He was born in Pietersburg, Limpopo. He is a painter and sculptor. He received his primary education at Thunzi Primary School where he started drawing, and at the Matsobana High School were he received art classes until Standard 9. In 1977 he left school after completing Standard 8.
From 1978 he worked for an Iron and Steel company until the end of 1985. His first pictures were exhibited at the roadside. While he was still selling his pictures on the roadside he was introduced to the Co-ordinator of the Institute of Race Relations in Pietermaritzburg who motivated him to draw more pictures.
He read an article about the African Art Centre in Durban. In 1986 he visited this centre where he met Jo Thorpe who started to promote his work. In 1987 he won an award at the Festival of African Art organised by the University of Zululand. In about 1988 he injured his left hand and in spite of having the use only of his thumb and index finger he nevertheless continues making sculpture.
He has participated in group exhibitions and is represented in public and private collections in South Africa.
