Christopher (Chris) James Albertyn was banned and restricted to Durban, Natal (now KwaZulu-Natal). He was a Honours graduate of the University of the Witwatersrand. Albertyn served as the Secretary of the Textile Workers Industrial Union in Durban. He was one of those banned in November 1976 along with 22 people involved in black trade unions, or research on black labour, or organisations offering advice and training to black workers. The organisations affected were the Urban Trainig Project (UTP); Industrial Aid Society (IAS); Institute of Industrial Education (IIE); Wages Commission and Western Province Workers Advice Bureau; Trade Union Advisory and Co-ordinating Council (TUACC).
