Born: Cape Town, 1951. Has a BA Honours degree from the University of Cape Town. He is a self taught photographer. Lurie has held over 20 exhibitions locally and internationally. His work also appears in numerous magazines and books published locally and internationally. Awards: he has been granted several Arts Council of Great Britain Grant Awards; the Pictures of the Year International’ (POYi) [Magazine Feature]; Ilford Profoto (South Africa) (documentary features) award and the Nikon UK (Feature story); World Understanding Award at the 61st Annual ‘Pictures of the Year International’ (POYi) and the Competition for “Cape Town Fringe: Manenberg Avenue is where it’s Happening. Collections: Iziko National Gallery; Side Gallery, Newcastle; Getty Centre for Arts and Humanities (Los Angeles); Black Gallery (Los Angeles) as well as in numerous private collections.
