ANC pays tribute to the late Arthur Goldreich, 26 May 2011

Arthur Goldreich will go down in history as one of the rare breeds of revolutionaries that changed the course of South African history. Not only did he sacrifice his privileges as a white South African but bore the pain of fighting against apartheid. As the member of the ANC and Umkhonto Wesizwe he took what was his and declared it a collective asset in pursuit of liberation. What has now become a heritage site of our struggle was the ultimate prize he paid for his beliefs and belief in freedom.

We salute his heroic resolve that saw him leave South Africa when he escaped from custody in 1963. His legacy will always be with us and will serve as a reminder of his contribution. Comrade Goldreich will remain an epitome of a selfless servant of the people. We extend our condolences to his family and kin.

May his soul rest in peace.
