With the number of ballots already counted following yesterday’s local government elections signalling yet another convincing victory for the African National Congress, the movement will tomorrow afternoon throw a victory party for its supporters to thank them for the race well run.

President Jacob Zuma will address thousands of supporters expected to attend the event. The president will use his speech to thank the millions of South Africans - the huge majority of whom voted for the ANC - who came out in their millions to exercise their democratic and hard-earned right to vote.

He will, amongst others, also commend ANC volunteers, the rank and file membership, supporters, leaders of various structures and the alliance for their huge sacrifices and effort during the campaign.

The ANC victory party is scheduled as follows:

Date: Friday, 20 May 2011

Time: 15h00-20h00

Venue: Chief Albert Luthuli House precincts, the corner of Sauer and President Streets

Issued by

African National Congress
