The African National Congress joins all soccer loving Africans, and South Africans in particular by hosting the ANC 2010 FIFA World Cup Street Bash, tomorrow, Friday, the 4th June 2010, in front of the ANC Head Office, Luthuli House, from 12h30 to 15h00. The theme for the bash is Siyanqoba Bafana, Siyavena Bafana.
This bash is the ANC send-off of the Bafana Bafana team to the world cup in a weeks time. We do this send of through song and dance, as it is customary of South Africans. We also do this send off of our team knowing very well that they will represent us with distinction.
Amongst other reasons of the bash the ANC would like to welcome the FIFA family and all participating countries/teams to our country and further assure them that they will be well received by all South Africans.
The programme of the day will be as follows:
- Speech by ANC leadership
- Diski dancers
- Music from every prominent South Africa artists
- Handing over of World Cup regalia and the South Africa flags.
The FIFA World Cup will be hosted in a developing African Country for the first time in the history of FIFA and the tournament. A legacy that will probably not be repeated in our life-time.
Without the visionary leadership of the ANC, and sacrifices of the masses of our people, South Africa would not be hosting this World Cup, we extend our gratitude to our former President, Nelson Mandela, who, amongst other leaders of our country, contributed significantly for the world Cup to be hosted in South Africa. We cant stop singing praises to our Local Organising Team (LOC), through the leadership of Dr Ivan Khoza and Dr Danny Jordan, the South African Football Association (SAFA), through the leadership of President Kirsten Nematandani.
Our many thanks also goes to FIFA, through the leadership of President Sepp Blatter, for bringingthis World Cup to South Africa and by considering the potential that Africa has in hosting such a prestigious event. The people of South Africa and Africa appreciate such a privilege and honour. We know that Africa wont disappoint you and will give the world the most entertaining and fulfilling soccer world cup experience.
On Saturday, the 5th of June, the NWC will be visiting the Limpopo province. This follows the decision of the ANC National Working Committee (NWC) to visit all provinces in order to directly interact with the ANC Provincial Executive Committees (PECs), Regional Executive Committees (RECs) and the Branch Executive Committees (BECs). This will give the ANC national leadership first hand information about activities of the ANC on the ground.
The NWC meeting will be followed by the ANC President, Jacob Zuma, and ANC Youth League President, Julius Malema, address at the Peter Mokaba memorial rally in Polokwane on Sunday, the 6th of June 2010 at Mankweng Cemetery.
