Paul Mosaka establishes the African Democratic Party

Paul Ramotsoane Mosaka, an influential businessman, in conjunction with Senator Hyman Basner established the African Democratic Party (ADP). The organisation had the same goals as the African National Congress ( ANC), but was more committed to determined organisation of mass-support and co-operation with progressive Whites. Mosaka's intention was that the ADP should become an ANC affiliate, but was finally forced out of the ANC by A B Xuma. Mosaka died in Manzini, Swaziland on 25 April, 1963.
