- 9 and 10 November 2013, South Africa’s first registration weekend for the 2014 National and Provincial elections.
- 25 November 2013, by this date the number of registered voters was 24 112 414, and the number of new voters added to the voters roll was over one million.

- 8 and 9 February 2014, the second and final weekend for voters to register and for registered voters to change their voting station ahead of the 2014 National and Provincial elections.
- 1 April 2014, the Independent Electoral Commissions’ (IEC) registration statistics showed that the total number of registered female voters was 13 924 929 and the total number of registered male voters was 11 439 740. In total, 25 364 669 South Africans were registered to vote in the 2014 general elections.
- 7 February 2014, the President of the Republic of South Africa, Jacob Gedleyihlekisa Zuma, announced that the 2014 fifth national elections will take place on 7 May 2014 from 7am to 9am, and that South Africans living overseas will cast their votes on 29 April 2014 from 7am to 9am.
- 7 April - 17 April 2014, applications for special votes take place. Special voting took place between 9am and 5pm at local IEC offices country wide.
- 29 April 2014 - 1 May 2014, South Africans living overseas cast their votes. The voting started in New Zealand, and then continued in all parts of the world. The last voting stations were in Los Angeles, United States of America.
- 5 May - 6 May 2014, South Africans who applied for special votes cast their votes. This voting took place at the voting stations where the voter was registered between 9am and 5pm.
- 7 May 2014, South Africans who registered to vote for the 2014 general elections cast their votes country wide. The voting took place between 7:00am until 9:00pm.
