This article is a reprint, and first appeared in June 1976 in The Educational Journal of March-May issue. The author provides the reader with a very detailed background and history of the formation of the Black Consciousness Movement in South Africa. This was in collaboration with the South African Students' Organisation (SASO) and the Black Peoples' Convention (BPC) and other liberation movements.
